restaurant mobile marketing Mobile marketing is made for restaurants! And it doesn’t matter what type of restaurant you own. You will be amazed at the ways mobile marketing can help you boost your sales.

A recent article on text marketer website had this to say:

Using mobile marketing in the food industry is possibly one of the most perfect fits for the medium. Any restaurant, whether it be a fast food establishment right through to a high end dining restaurant, will be (and all have been) amazed at what success a simple, proven mobile marketing strategy can bring.

This is the face of modern marketing with mobile devices taking the lead. We’ve written before (Smartphones Strike Fear) about how mobile is changing the way people search and this trend is just beginning.

Mobile marketing is one of the easiest, least expensive and most powerful marketing methods you can employ. Let us help you get started.

mobile walletsIf you haven’t heard about mobile wallets, you need to read this article on eMarketer.com.

Here’s the gist of the story:

The potential for mobile payments is huge. Globally, consumers make trillions of dollars in credit and debit card transactions each year. Migrating just a small percentage of that spending to mobile-based transactions would be a lucrative opportunity for the companies that facilitate it.

What’s the point for local businesses? If you are not set up to accept payments from mobile walloets, you will be left behind as your customers seek vendors who do.

This is as huge as the advent of the credit card was. Can you imagine having been in business for the last 30 years without taking CCs?

The new question is “Will you survive if you don’t take payment from mobile wallets?”

Talk to us about getting ready and let us know what you think about this new trend.

Steve JobsSteve Jobs, CEO of Apple, has resigned his post as CEO, but will remain as Chairman of the Board. His impact on computing and mobile is incalculable and he will be missed.

Here is his resignation letter, submitted August 25th, 2011:

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve

iPhone appsYou gotta be aware of cell phone applications (apps) and how popular they are. Lots of people think these are only games or toys for kids. Wrongo in the Kongo!

4,000+ iPhone Apps for Business!

The Apple App Store lists 4460 business iPhone apps as I write this. By the time you read it, there will be a bunch more.

Trying to figure out what you can do? Here’s an idea from a recent article on Mobile Commerce Daily about how a pizza business is using iPhone apps to make it easier for their customers to order made-to-order pizzas.

The app uses the iPhone’s GPS-enabled technology to help consumers find the closest location.

Consumers who are registered can use their saved profile information and choose their last order with just one tap.

Via the app, consumers can also view current specials, customize their pizza and wings and specify the order type – delivery or pick-up.

This is about being where your prospects and your customers are and they are using apps more and more. They are using smartphones for everything now and a well designed app can bring them in the door.

Your Company’s iPhone Apps used by 1 Mio People?

The average user has 10+ apps they use regularly. But what if yours was one used by 1 million users even for a short while. And what if a bunch of them ended up on your website or in your store?

Stay tuned here as we role out our iPhone apps service in the next month or so.

This is the future people! Don’t let iPhone apps be something you thought would just be a fad!

iPhone Apps and Your Business

Small businesses are going to have to understand that the use of apps for all smartphones is a growing trend that they can not ignore.

Here’s an article about one used to keep track of car maintenance records from the SunHerald.com website:

A growing number of iPhone apps are helping drivers keep better track of service and maintenance records for their cars, according to Edmunds.com, the premier online resource for automotive information.

“These new smartphone apps are offering a convenient alternative to the clutter of oil-stained paperwork that drivers packed into their gloveboxes for so many years,” says Doug Newcomb, senior technology editor at Edmunds.com

nixon fiat dollarOn August 15th, 1971 then President Richard Nixon decided to unplug the dollar from the gold standard supposedly to stop currency speculators from wrecking the currency. This was a temporary measure according to his speech announcing this move.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t remember that “temporary” measure ever being rescinded, and as far as I can tell, Tricky Dick did a better job of wrecking the dollar, and subsequently the economy, than any speculators could have ever done.

What Nixon did was not free us from speculators; he freed the government from any fiscal restraint allowing it to borrow any amount it wanted at will. Now we have trillions of dollars worth of debt sitting in other country’s treasuries waiting to come home to roost – to a destroyed hen house.

The most recent infantile political posturing over the debt ceiling can be traced back to that momentous day in 1971 when the President of the United States, sworn to uphold the Constitution and protect our country from enemies, foreign and domestic, became one of those enemies.

Thanks Dick!

Thanks to Chris Mortenson for blogging about this and bringing it to my attention. Here’s his whole post:
Happy 40th Birthday, Fiat Dollar!

iPhone as Google Search Device

By Tom Dewell
August 20, 2011 3:35 pm

iPhoneWe’ve been writing recently about how smartphones, like the iPhone, are quickly taking the place of PCs, or at least laptops. Here’s another example of how that is manifesting in the marketplace.

Google has updated and improved its search functions for iPhones to make it easier and quicker for users to surf the net and load results fast.

A recent posting on eBrandz.com news service had this to say:

There was an announcement made by the search engine giant today that there has been an update for the iPhone app of Google search. This new version is 0.9.0.7005. In brief, the app has additions such as Google Instant Pages, Improved help screen and New way to switch between Web, Images, Places and more. It has even fixed those minor bugs which had been frustrating the iPhone users.

If the Big G is devoting resources to smartphone search, you know this is an important development. It also means that your prospects and customers are using, or going to be using, smartphones more and more as they search for local businesses.

Will they find yours?

QR codesQR Codes? What are they?

Marketing for small businesses is moving at lightning speed and its easy to get left behind. Why? Because you’re busy doing what you do best which is run your business. Unfortunately, that means missing some of the easiest marketing tools ever invented to drive traffic to your business and keep them coming back.

Smartphone sales are booming – they now outsell PCs! People using smartphones are addicted to them for all their internet search and communication needs. You can use this to your advantage.

Enter QR Codes!

You can use QR codes (the funny black and white block above) to attract your customers, or anyone who walks by your store front if you display the code in your store window, by offering specials or discounts or any other incentive you can create to get them in your place of business.

You can text a QR code to every customer’s smartphone and all you have to do is read it with a QR code reader when they come into your business and Presto! they get the deal.

Restaurants use these to get people in on a slow day. 20% off any entree from 5-7 today only! Boutiques: 1/2 off to the first 10 customers in the store after 6 p.m.
Any business: send them to a smartphone app that engages them with a quiz or game to win a free prize.

“Endless Possibilities with QR Codes!”

Endless possibilities here for your business. We can help you integrate QR codes into your marketing strategy – drop us a line today!

smartphone appsUnless you have been on another planet the last couple of years, you know that apps (applications) for smartphones is big business. The Apple App Store, which is the biggest in the world, has just downloaded the 10 billionth app.

Apps are not just games

Lots of apps are games and “just fun” things, but there are also lots of business apps. A recent article in Mobile Commerce Daily featured a drinks manufacturer who engaged potential customers with an app that takes the user to a game where they can win prizes. And the game app is an extension of a more complex game on the company’s website.

Here’s how it works, according to the article:

Once consumers snap the mobile bar code via their QR code reader, they are taken to a mobile-optimized page where they can play a game to win various weekly prizes.

To play, consumers click a spinning bar of Daily’s Cocktails products to create a cocktail.

Each week, there is a winning pattern and users who guess the right combination are randomly selected to win prizes, such as blenders and coolers.

Your customers are using apps every time they check their smartphone. What if it was your app? What if that app showed up in the App Store and tens of thousands of people could download it and they could eventually end up on your website. Would that many more visitors maybe help sales a bit? :-)

Custom Apps for Your Business!

We will be offering an smartphone app design service this Fall, custom made to your business.

Stay tuned!

smartphonesThe PC is losing ground to mobile devices like smartphones and pads.

What does this mean to you? Prospective customers are going to be trying to find you on those devices and won’t be able to if you are not set up that way. This is the time to position yourself for the future wave of new customers by showing up on their mobile devices when they search for your business.

These new customers are not using their PCs anymore. Gen X and Y don’t use email anymore, only text. Are you adapting to these tends?

If you’re not, those prospects will find your competitors – that’s a fact!
